Χωρίς ιδιαίτερες εκπλήξεις τα φετινά βραβεία Όσκαρ. Στη φαντασμαγορική βραδιά ο μεγάλος νικητης ήταν η ταινία της Κάθριν Μπίγελοου "The Hurt Locker" κερδίζοντας 6 αγαλματίδια (Καλύτερο πρωτότυπο σενάριο, Καλύτερη ηχητική μίξη, Καλύτερο ηχητικό μοντάζ, καλύτερο μοντάζ, καλύτερη σκηνοθεσία, καλύτερη ταινία) και επικρατώντας σαφώς του "Avatar".

Το Όσκαρ Α' ανδρικού ρόλου απονεμήθηκε στον Τζεφ Μπρίτζες για την ερμηνεία του στο "Crazy Heart" ενώ το Όσκαρ Α' γυναικείου ρόλου κέρδισε η Σάντρα Μπούλοκ για το ρόλο της στην ταινία "The Blind Side".

Αξίζει να σημειωθεί ότι είναι η πρώτη φορά που το Όσκαρ σκηνοθεσίας πάει σε γυναίκα ενώ η Σάντρα Μπούλοκ κατάφερε μέσα σε ένα διήμερο να "κερδίσει" και το χρυσό βατόμουρο και το Όσκαρ Α' γυναικείου ρόλου.
